The course outline:
The Growing group is a friendly and supportive space for people receiving mental health support in the community, as well as those who are in or have recently been discharged from inpatient services. The group offers a relaxed and welcoming environment where you can meet others, share experiences, and spend time outdoors. Together, we will grow plants, flowers, and vegetables, learning simple gardening skills along the way. No previous experience is required – just a willingness to give it a go.
By engaging in gardening activities, you can experience numerous benefits that enhance both your physical and mental health. Gardening can be a gentle way to reduce stress, improve mood, and create a sense of achievement as you watch things grow. Being part of a community garden fosters belonging and inclusion, while also helping you build social connections. The calming effects of nature can boost your overall health.
Closed Group: These groups are specifically for individuals who are under the care of Community Mental Health Teams or for inpatients.
Facilitator: Activity & Therapy Team & Peer Workers
